Zach and Lisa Hansen, started Growing Brilliant in 2013 with their Rocklin location. Lisa is a credentialed elementary school teacher and also has experience as a preschool teacher and reading specialist. Lisa holds a master’s degree in education and is currently working on her doctoral dissertation at the University of San Francisco. Through her research, Lisa has learned that early experiences are directly linked to academic achievement later in life. She has a passion for early childhood development and believes in promoting lifelong learning.

Zach graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside with a degree in business and marketing. His main focus is on the operations side of our schools. This allows Lisa to focus on creating exceptional classroom experiences and curriculum with our amazing staff!

“Our favorite part about Growing Brilliant is knowing that our daughter (and her classmates!) have the best possible early learning experiences. We absolutely love taking her to our Preschool Academy and Parent Participation classes. We feel blessed that we can share Growing Brilliant with so many other parents!”

Ms. Lisa Shoro- Program Director

Lisa Shoro

Lisa is a highly qualified preschool teacher with experience teaching every age group from infants to pre-kindergarten. She studied early childhood education with an emphasis on culture and diversity, as well as language and early literacy. Ms. Lisa is energetic and nurturing and she loves building relationships with the families at Growing Brilliant Rocklin! Her passion for education stems from her desire to see children celebrated for the amazing things they each have to offer the world! She has two children of her own and in their free time, they love to ride bikes, go camping, attend multi-cultural festivals, and anything else that gets them out exploring and learning about the world around them!

Ms. Mackenzie- Teacher

Hi, my name is Ms. Mackenzie! As a young child, I always said when I grew up I wanted to be a teacher. I cannot express enough how passionate I am about learning and helping to create life-long learners! I am currently still expanding my knowledge of early childhood education and working towards achieving my Bachelor’s degree in ECE and Teaching credentials. I have worked hard to complete 30 units specifically in early childhood education ranging from best educational practices to health and safety, and culture and diversity.

It is my overall goal to provide children with the best education and care in order to help them grow and reach their full potential! I currently have an associate’s degree in Social Behavioral Science and I will be receiving my Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education over the fall, and Masters Teacher Associates in the spring of 2017. As I continue my career and pursue my dreams of being a teacher and influencing the lives of children, I strive to find ways to help children grow and learn new skills. I am fortunate to have such a fulfilling and rewarding career. It is my ultimate goal to help create passionate, life-long learners!

When I am not teaching I enjoy reading, the outdoors, and site seeing. I love life’s adventures! I love animals and enjoy visiting the zoo! I am honored to be a part of the Growing Brilliant team and Growing Brilliant families!

Hi, I’m Ms. Karen and I am so happy to be a part of the Growing Brilliant team in Rocklin. I received my Early Childhood Education units from Sierra College and have been teaching preschool for the last 8 years. I enjoy playing and singing songs with preschoolers and love all the “hello” and “goodbye” hugs I get as a teacher each day! I live in Rocklin with my husband and three children.

Ms. Katrina- Little Learners II

sacsd102016j-1629-jpg

Hello, I’m Ms. Katrina. My career with children began in high school where I took Child Development and R.O.P. classes. It was there that I learned to love the little minds and creative curiosity of preschool students. I went on to Sierra College and obtained my Associates Teacher Permit, where I fell in love with implementing curriculum in play based ways. I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to partner with Growing Brilliant as together we collaborate to form a lasting impact on each child and family’s life.

The best part about being a teacher is the gift of seeing my students grow. I encourage my students to explore and see with a new perspective; through this, we witness constant progress in both personal and academic development.

When I’m not at work I enjoy hiking, karaoke, spending time with friends, and traveling. My life’s motto is “dream big and expect the unexpected.” Let’s all reach for the stars!
